Millionaire Calculator

Enter what you have, what you can add each month and the return you expect. Find out the year you cross a million - and what has to change if the answer is "never".

How this is calculated

Your balance compounds monthly at the equivalent of the annual return you set, and your contribution is added at the end of each month. The calculator steps forward month by month until the balance first reaches your target, then reports that month.

Contributions and growth are shown separately because the split is the point. Early on, almost all of the balance is money you paid in. Past roughly the fifteen-year mark, growth usually becomes the larger share - and that crossover is the entire argument for starting sooner rather than saving harder later.

If the target is not reached within sixty years, the calculator says so rather than printing an absurd number. That result usually means the monthly contribution is the constraint, not the return.
